How it works

Choose your pace. Stay ahead.

1

Pick a daily pace

2,000 to 12,000 steps, and how many hearts you get each day. The monster walks at that pace from morning to night.

2

Walk whenever it suits you

Every step pushes you further ahead. A lazy morning is fine; an evening walk catches you right back up.

3

Hit the goal, it sleeps

Reach your pace and the monster falls asleep for the day. Win a day and it calms down a phase; get wiped out and it evolves.

DANGER: the monster is close, 3,441 steps to safety

It caught you: one heart lost

Built to be fair

A walking game, not a grinding game.

It's supposed to get you moving, not make you feel bad. Every rule is written so a normal week of life doesn't break your streak.

❄️

Freeze tokens

Every 7-day streak earns one, and you can hold two. Sick, injured or traveling? Freeze the day and the monster waits.

⏸️

Pause anytime

Pause the whole chase, penalty-free, for as long as you need. Resuming is one tap.

🚶

Walking is enough

Steps past double your pace earn nothing extra. Running is never required.

📅

Rules start tomorrow

Changes to your pace or hearts apply from the next day, so every day is played by the rules it started with.

⌚

Your watch counts

Apple Watch steps come in through Apple Health; Wear OS and fitness apps through Health Connect. The monster rides along on your wrist.

📺

Two short ads, that's all

One before you spend a freeze token, and at most one a day on your streak history. Never when you get caught.

Questions

Before the chase starts.

Do I have to run?

No. Walking is always enough. Steps past double your daily pace earn nothing extra, so there's no reason to grind.

Is Pace Monster free?

Yes. It shows two short video ads and nothing more: one before you spend a freeze token, and at most one a day when you open your streak history. Never when you get caught, and pausing is always ad-free.

What happens when the monster catches me?

You lose a heart and it falls back to regroup. Lose every heart in one day and it evolves into a faster phase, and your streak breaks. Hit your daily goal and it falls asleep until tomorrow.

What if I'm sick or traveling?

Every 7-day streak earns a freeze token, and you can hold two. Freeze a day and the monster waits; your streak survives. You can also pause everything, any time, penalty-free.

Does it work with my watch?

Yes. On iPhone, Apple Watch steps join the chase through Apple Health, and there's a watch app and complication. On Android, watch and fitness-app steps come in through Health Connect, with a Wear OS tile.

Does it track my location?

No. There's no GPS and no account required. Steps are processed on your phone; an optional account only backs up your streak and settings for a new phone.

Stay ahead. Don't get caught.
